Landed cost

Know the Real Cost Before You Order.

The cheapest factory quotation is not necessarily the cheapest finished product in Israel.

Why the factory price is the wrong number

Two suppliers quote you $4.10 and $3.78 per unit. The second looks 8% cheaper. Then the cartons turn out to be 20% larger, so fewer fit in the container. The material changes the duty classification. The packaging fails, so a portion arrives damaged. The product needs a test the first supplier had already passed.

By the time the goods are on your shelf, the cheaper quotation has become the more expensive product. This is the single most common and most expensive mistake in importing, and it is entirely avoidable.

A landed-cost assessment puts every line item on one page, so you compare suppliers on the number that actually matters: the cost per unit, in your warehouse, ready to sell.

What an assessment may include

At the factory

  • Product price
  • Tooling and samples
  • Packaging
  • Inland transport overseas
  • Inspection

In transit

  • Freight
  • Insurance

At the Israeli border

  • Customs duty
  • Purchase tax
  • Standards and testing
  • Customs clearance
  • Port charges

In Israel

  • Storage
  • Israeli delivery

We deliberately do not publish an instant landed-cost calculator. Duty rates, freight rates and testing requirements change, and classification depends on the specific product. A number produced by a generic calculator is worse than no number, because businesses commit money against it. Assessments are prepared against your actual product and quotation.

What we need from you

  • A description of the product, and photographs if you have them
  • The supplier quotation, if you already have one
  • The quantity you intend to order
  • The country of manufacture
  • Carton dimensions and weights, if the supplier has provided them
  • The date you need the goods in Israel

If you have only some of this, send what you have. Part of our job is working out the rest.
